Associate Professor of the Civil Engineering Department at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota, Colombia). Professor Vargas main qualifications are in the area of River Morphodynamics, River Engineering and Ecohydraulics. His research is focused on the study of river morphodynamics by combining different approaches such as data series and field data analysis, theoretical analyses, and numerical and physical modelling. He has worked in both academic and commercial environments where he has combined research, teaching and consultancy activities in the integrated water resources management area. His PhD research dealt with the river-bank accretion processes in river morphodynamics.
