Resumen

The set we know as Art is formed by other sets (of objects, expressions, marks, etc.) that redefine it permanently. Each new series of works that is included into it becomes an event that suspends the sense of the set and embodies a new one. Following Deleuze and Guattari's arguments, when a new work or a new set of works are presented in a series, it becomes a paradoxical event that claims its place in known series and, at the same time, seems not fitting in other series. In the case of the series of works subsumed in the concept of Art, with every new work of art (made or discovered) new senses appear: one embodied by the object, other produced in the art, and other that appears in calling art that object. In this text we focus in a set of works of Tulato art (coming from Tumaco and La Tolita regions in Colombia and Ecuador, respectively) that will allow us to put into play the previous formulations and bring us close to the notion of event, asking if the concept of Art is apt to offer senses in the set and in some individual pieces, and in the ways in which the set brings about new senses in the concept of art itself.
