Resumen
Public procurement mechanisms in Colombia take on different forms. In the case of health services, procurement is based on the "abbreviated selection system" established in Law 100 of 1993, though other forms are employed on occasions. This article examines the performance of this type of procurement in a case study underway at the Department of Valle del Cauca. This identified the non-conformities encountered and established the main repercussions for the development of the communities. The article concludes by offering suggestions that might reduce the shortfalls found in these types of procurement processes in the country.
