She is a medical doctor graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a PhD in Global Health and Medical Anthropology from Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
She has been a faculty member and researcher at Universidad Javeriana since 2008. Throughout her career, she has served as an Associate Professor, Integral Counselor, Course Coordinator for Health and Vulnerability, member of the Ethics Committee, Director of the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, and Acting Dean in 2025. She currently serves as Director of the Medical Program at the Faculty of Medicine.
Her main research interests focus on health in vulnerable populations, using a qualitative approach. Her research has addressed topics including adolescent pregnancy among displaced populations in Colombia; health among people engaged in sex work and its implications for the mother-child dyad; mental health among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic; healthy eating; and other topics related to disease prevention and health promotion.
