N2 - An accurate average modeling technique for power converters is important in order to be able to analyze the converters and design proper control laws. The classical technique works well under the slow dynamics assumption in the state space variables. For certain power converters, such as switched capacitor converters, this assumption is not satisfied. This article searches to validate a new technique of continuous modelling for power converters. This technique is called general equivalent continuous model. A brief theory about this type of model is presented. In order to clarify the procedure, a numerical example in a basic cell of a ladder converter is shown. The proposed model is experimentally validated for a multilevel ladder converter.
