Resumen
This article explores the socio-urban implications that the production and transformation of urban space in informal or popular neighborhoods have on the basis of the experience of children; in order to investigate the construction of meanings in the popular neighborhood. This is done by reviewing the elements that they identify as shaping the neighborhood environment, in relation to the factors that promote or hinder the well-being of this population, as this population understands it. This research is carried out in the Brisas del Volador neighborhood, within the framework of the project on the experience of children and adolescents in cities Growing up in cities iii, which is the third version of an original study by Kevin Lynch in the 1970, and a second version by Louise Chawla in the 1990. It worked on the basis of participatory methods with the children who participated and as a result processes of use, appropriation and signification of urban space are recognized.
