Resumen
Introduction: The purpose of the study was to describe the experience of treating keloid scars with simultaneous triple therapy (resection, cryotherapy, and intralesional triamcinolone acetonide) in patients treated at a tertiary care institution in Cali, Colombia. Methods: We conducted a descriptive, observational, retrospective study including patients diagnosed with keloid scars who received simultaneous triple therapy between 2017 and 2019. Patients who did not attend follow-up were excluded. Results: A total of 27 patients (17 women) were studied. The average age was 30.8 years (standard deviation: 11.7). The median duration of the keloid scar was 18 years. Phototype V was the most affected (33.3%), and the auricle was the main location (88.9%). Trauma was the most common cause of the scars. Previous treatment with intralesional corticoste-roid infiltration was received by 33.3% (9 patients). 63% of patients presented with a single lesion. One lesion per patient was followed up for 6 months, with 66.7% (18 patients) showing no recurrence after treatment. Pain was the most significant adverse effect reported. Conclusions: Simultaneous triple therapy for keloid scar management in our study resulted in a 66.7% non-recurrence rate with minimal complications. This is the first study in Colombia on this treatment for keloid scars.
