Resumen
Objective: To describe the curricular aspects of training in dermatology in the training program of family medicine in Colombia. Methods: Descriptive observational study. All training programs in family medicine in Colombia were included. Through the completion of a virtual survey addressed to program directors or teachers, data related to the availability and duration of training in dermatology, stakeholders, teaching and evaluation methodologies were collected. Results: There are 10 programs of family medicine training in Colombia, all with a duration of 6 semesters. 70% are linked to private universities and 90% have training in dermatology, lasting 4 to 6 weeks, with 80% being an obligate subject. 80% have clinical practice, 70% with seminars and 40% use virtual resources. Regarding the evaluation methodology, appreciative evaluation predominates (60%) and a theoretical or practical exam is carried out in less than half of the cases (40%). Conclusion: We present the first described approach to the dermatology teaching structure in the specialization in family medicine in Colombia. Although most of the programs have training in dermatology, the curricular aspects are very diverse. We believe that a uniform structure could provide tools for the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges that family medicine specialists face when approaching patients with skin problems, which could have a significant impact, especially in the case of primary and secondary prevention of skin cancer.
