Resumen

A microgrid is a secondary (low voltage) network capable of supplying part or all the power needed by the connected users. It is composed by solar panels, energy storage devices, diesel plants, microturbines, and all other distributed generation technologies available for connecting to the low voltage grid. As a relatively new trend, there is still a need for developing analysis in different fields related to the topic. This paper investigates the optimal operation of a microgrid in the Colombian energy market. In this specific work, the microgrid consists on solar panels, energy storage devices, and a microturbine. A linear programming algorithm is proposed for the optimal operation of the microgrid during a 24h period. Results are promising and demonstrate the advantages for the end users and the distribution network.
