Resumen

The following article analyzes the discursive repertoire of former members of ETA around issues such as violence, repentance or reconciliation. Nine in-depth interviews were conducted with terrorist group leaders to analyze the elements that legitimized the use of political violence, both in relation to its origins and from a retrospective look, once the ETA has disappeared. This article also shows the absence of regret and the difficulties in building a space for reconciliation in the Basque Country. Thus, the interviews reveal how it is still understood that many of the issues that motivated the emergence of ETA today are still valid and have not disappeared, beyond the fact that the use of terrorist violence has no place in Basque society.
