N2 - Attendance at fitness centers has become a social phenomenon in which body image responds to a series of logics related to various transversal factors such as health, sports performance, aesthetics, among others. The objective of the study was to characterize the reasons for attendance at a Physical Conditioning and Preparation Center (CAPF) of a university institution in the city of Santiago de Cali. The methodology had a quantitative approach and cross-sectional descriptive design. The study was carried out with a stratified sample, consisting of 1,383 participants, grouped into different population categories, which included students, civil servants, professors, graduates, and a group called "others." Of these participants, 56% were men and 44% were women, the average age was 33.4 ± 7.1 years. The instrument used was a structured Likert-type survey which consisted of 33 questions. The analysis of the information was carried out using SPSS version 25 software. The results revealed that the group that most frequented the CAPF was made up of students, representing 91% of the population, while graduates constituted a significantly higher proportion. lower, with 1.1% attendance. Among the motivations that drove the attendees was the maintenance of health and sports performance.
