N2 - Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are the most frequently reported adverse event worldwide, being surgical site infection (SSI) the HAI with the highest incidence in low- and middle-income countries, such as Colombia, with important consequences for patients, society, and health care system, due to the increase in morbidity, mortality, and costs it generates. This guideline contains perioperative recommendations for the prevention of SSI, based on evidence, carried out through the process of adaptation of clinical practice guidelines for the Colombian context.
