Resumen
Objective Identify the nutritional status of pregnant women participating in the program of comprehensive care for early childhood family type in the town of Popayan, from anthropometric characterization. Materials and methods To determine the sociodemographic and anthropometric characteristics of pregnant women were consulted his medical history. To identify risk and protective factors in pregnancy in familiar areas, health and nutrition Sheet sociofamiliar characterization of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare was used-Modulo 3. To establish the prevalence of food insecurity at home (INSAH) Latin American and Caribbean Scale was used to measure the Food Safety at Home, adapted and validated for Colombia. Data were analyzed with chi-square test and ANOVA. Results Among pregnant women the greatest increases in weight between the second and third trimester of pregnancy were evident. The prepregnancy BMI among pregnant women was found in normal ranges, the average BMI of women during the first trimester of pregnancy had no greater variation remaining under normal ranges, however, during the second and third trimesters most pregnant was in overweight, according to standard nutritional assessment for pregnant proposed by Atalah. Meanwhile, in households where greater likelihood of food insecurity was found it was common for pregnant women had primary studies, were devoted to housework and came from lower strata with monthly income of a minimum wage. Conclusion The INSAH was significantly associated with weight changes of pregnant women, especially in the first trimester.
