Resumen

The histone H2A proteins of the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi are coded by two tandemly repeated genes having different sized. They are organized in two independent clusters, but located in the same chromosome. These two units are originated by adition of an insertion sequence at the 3' end of the basic unit. Two H2A polyadenilated transcripts of 1 and 0.7 Kb are transcribed. The presence of H2A messengers in the cytoplasme for H2A is specific of the replicative stages of the parasite through a transcriptional regulation. In these replicative stages the steady state level of the H2A messengers are subjected to post-transcriptional regulation, coupled to DNA replication.
