The present study reviews the role of human capital in determining high impact entrepreneurship in the context of developed economies and examine the role of human capital in influencing high impact entrepreneurship by early stage new venture founders in a developing economy (Colombia/Latin america). Using a conceptual framework draw from economic, entrepreneurship and psychology the study seeks examine the moderating role of perceived entrepreneurial human capital in influencing high impact entrepreneurship by early stage new venture founders in a developing context (Colombia/Latin america) and identify the determinants of perceived entrepreneurial human capital in order to develop theoretical propositions to delineate the role of human capital in effectuating entrepreneurial entry and outcome such as high impact entrepreneurship. The methodology used for this study is quantitative. Using data from the population level (National adult population survey) as well as primary data from a sample of entrepreneurs from a business incubator (nova campus), the results of this study is expected to advance our knowledge about the relationship between human capital and entrepreneurship within the Colombian/Latin american context as well as a better understanding of the business incubation process that encourages high impact entrepreneurship in the region.
