The Effects of Fixed-Term Contracts on Workers in Colombia.

In Colombia 31% of salaried workers have fixed-term contracts. Several studies have identified significant effects of fixed-term contracts on the labor market in countries with much lower rates of fixed-term jobs than Colombia. Among the effects are: lower salaries rates, more instability in employment, lower rate of human capital accumulation and segregation in labor market. Above, evidence the disadvantages facing fixed-term contracts workers respect to those with indefinite contracts. The analysis of the effects of fixed-term contracts in Colombia seeks to further our understanding of an important aspect of the labor market which has not been studied in depth to date. Therefore, given the scale of fixed-term employment in Colombia, analyze the effects of fixed-term contract on workers in Colombia deserves to be given attention in research.
