Descripción

This letter of agreement (LoA) is to support the Colombia component of the research project entitled ¿Mobilizing women¿s solutions for conservation and sustainable development in the Amazon¿ that is assisting the Amazon Sustainable Landscapes (ASL) Program . The overarching goal of the research project is to design a strategy to improve gender sensitive conservation and sustainable development interventions in the Amazon. This research project will be based on an analysis of existing gender gaps in the region, focusing on successful cases to be identified in the ASL areas of intervention, where women have improved gender balance in terms of increased participation and decision making, greater access and control over natural resources, and/or increased access to socioeconomic benefits from natural resources use. The study will highlight key obstacles and barriers (inter alia legal, institutional, cultural) women from the case studies face, explain the gender gaps, and identify the strategies or proposals to overcome them. These recommendations and guidelines are expected to enrich the approaches conducted by the ASL Program and its national projects, and to promote a more equitable participation of women and men within the program. The recommendations are also expected to be applicable to broader audiences working in the Amazon region. This agreement targets activities related to collaboration with ASL partners in Colombia, research on case study sites in Colombia and ensure lessons learned from research at Colombian sites is included in the research projects analysis and findings
