Reflejos del africa en la arquitectura de salmona.

Through photographs, this projects aims to illustrate the relevance and the correspondence of architects’ travel experiences with their composition of architectural projects. The purpose is to show to the public of both professional and academic architects the importance of experience in the composition and in the habitability of architecture. In particular, this project concerns on how Rogelio Salmona’s architectural work was influenced by his travel experiences in Africa –by the time he was living in Paris and working in Le Corbusier’s atelier. The photographs that will be used for the project were taken during the research process for the Master's thesis "The incidence of the itinerary in the procedure of the project. The experience of the journey to Africa in the composition of Rogelio Salmona's work", done for the Master of Architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Bogota. Half of the photographs were taken during a trip to Africa that took place in 2010, following the steps of Salmona's journey to Africa, almost 60 years ago. The other half, were taken in different Salmona’s buildings around Colombia. The photographs will be shown on an exhibition and will be consigned on a photograph catalog.
