Descripción

Significant morbidity among premature infants infants still occurs; the incremental improvement in survival has been offset by the progressive increase in the numbers of infants with some sequelae. The most prevalent of these sequelae is CLD. The early use of NCPAP probably decreases the likelihood of ventilation. Whether prophylactic surfactant therapy in this setting further decreases the need for ventilation is unknown.
