Descripción

Seed Description & Plan: We are interested in developing a research network between Chile (BrainLat), Colombia, and other groups of RedLat to study interactions between extended social factors, cognition, and clinical factors associated to normal aging (NA) and neurodegeneration (ND) in the Latin American Countries (LAC). Notably, in the BrainLat seed project, we will develop a first pilot study assessing the interactions between social determinants of health (SDH), cognitive reserve (CR), finegrained processes of social cognition (SC), and clinical functioning (CF) in NA and a sample of patients with ND [including mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer's disease (AD) and frontotemporal degeneration (FTD). Moreover, we will determine the more accurate factors to predict different multimodal phenotypes between NA. and ND. Based on the BrainLat project results, we will design and develop a larger grant proposal to study the predictive SDH, CR, SC, CF factors, and geneticepigenetic interactions in LAC (different genetic risk levels and methylation) to shape NA and ND phenotypes.
