Oral antibiotic therapy versus parenteral antibiotic therapy in the treatment of severe pneumonia in children.

Acute respiratory infection (ARI) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in children under five years of age in developing countries. Actual treatment of severe pneuminia required hospitalization for the administration of injectable therapy and has several drawbacks. Whether oral antibiotics treatment strategies in hospital settings can be used effectively and safely in children with severe pneumonia is unclear.
