Migracion internacional y resultados de salud en los hogares en los paises de origen: una aproximacion al estado del arte.

International migration and health outcomes in countries of origin: an approximation to its knowledge frontier. Migration, which has been increasing in Colombia and the rest of the world during the last decades, could have effects on the population health in countries where migratory flows are originating and, as a result, impact their economic development. However, as literature reveals, this subject has received little attention since research has been considering more important the phenomenon of migration in the receiving than in the origin countries and Colombia is not the exception. Hence, the purpose of this research project is to embark in a systematic review of the current literature in order to identify and classify the academic discussion on the effects of international migration on health. More particularly, we are interested on the developments of the theory, methodologies employ in empirical studies, empirical results and their consistency with theory, and the missing pieces needed to complete the main puzzles. To accomplish this task, we will proceed to create an inventory of all the articles, working papers, books, and so on, that have been published during the last fifteen years, classify them into different subjects, methodologies, reference context, and main results. This will require a permanent exercise of abridgment and critical thought.
