Descripción
The influence of community socioeconomic context on early childhood health.a multilevel analysis for 2005, 2010, 2015 in Colombia. The relationship between health and place has been widely researched, however few studies have considered the interaction between individual and household characteristics and community-level variables. This project seeks to examine the socio-economic factors at individual, household and community levels which influence children's health (measured as height for age) in Colombia, as well as the interplay between them. Using data from the Colombian Demographic and Heath Survey (DHS), for 2005, 2010 and 2015, weighted multilevel logistic models will be computed, which allow exploration of the role of community context. Preliminary results show that aside from the individual and household characteristics, there are community-related characteristics such as the mother's education, socioeconomic status and access to the health system, which affect chronic malnutrition in children under five years old in Colombia.
