Intergenerational Time Use and Labor Market Dynamics: The Role of Pensions and Sickness for vulnerable and poor Households in Colombia, Mexico and Brazil.

Proyecto: Investigación

Detalles del proyecto

Descripción

This project investigates how the presence of elderly individuals, particularly retirees with or without pensions and health limitations, reshapes the allocation of time among household members across generations in Colombia Mexico, and Brazil. Using nationally representative time-use data, the research examines whether these intergenerational dynamics differ between poor and non-poor but vulnerable households. Our primary objective is to understand how the inclusion of retirees alters education, work, leisure, and domestic responsibilities within the household, and how these adjustments vary based on household vulnerability. This could be extremely relevant as income poverty or vulnerability shapes time allocations especially in contexts where pension coverage is low and informal work is widespread
