Diseño participativo para el relacionamiento intercultural

As a result of the training processes accompanied by the Institute of Intercultural Studies (IEI) and offered to communities, they need to build educational tools that facilitate understanding and appropriation of knowledge was evident, as an important factor that strengthens their ability for intercultural dialogue. This proposal is a contribution to such needs, and aims to design an educational tool where participants can think over rural conflicts, intercultural relationships, and the possibility of building sustainable and peaceful intercultural territories. The research will be carried out by professors, researchers and students from the “Visual communication design” program, and IEI at the Universidad Javeriana Cali.The creative process has five steps including research, pre-production, production, validation and feedback with rural communities, and sharing of the experience in an academic setting. It will use interdisciplinary methodologies, such as participatory design and intercultural dialogue. The proposed development of an intercultural teaching tool aimed at peasants, Afro and indigenous people is unique in its kind. The prospect of signing the Peace agreements in Havana, between the Colombian Government and the FARC guerrillas, and the eventual construction of territorial peace, creates the ideal scenario where such educational tools can enhance old and new peace building processes by strengthening a culture of coexistence, sustainability and dialogue within the territories.
