Descripción

Quantification by atomic absorption of the composition of discs made in dental amalgam subjected to high temperatures with forensic purposes. according to reports from the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, about 500 deaths related burns may occur in our country. Where fingerprint identification is not always an efficient process given the conditions the body. Guaranteed by law 38 of 1993, in addition to fingerprints, dental data is a system of identification of bodies in Colombia. With this perspective in mind, providing scientific research to enhance the system of recognition is of great value not only from a judicial point of view, where you can provide both evidence of the facts that led to the death as the identification of bodies, but also can provide social component to family members finally know the whereabouts of their loved ones. Researchers at the Grupo de Investigacion en Ciencias Basicas y Clinicas de la Salud de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana - Cali, have experience in this area and have generated a considerable amount of work on the line of Forensic Sciences with samples of human teeth and animals teeth . These studies reported behavior of materials used in everyday dental amalgams included, as these are heated in the temperature range ranging from 200 ° C to 1000 ° C in order to simulate real conditions of a death by incineration or incineration post mortem. The techniques reported by them so far have generated observable with high reproducibility which suggest changes in the composition thereof with respect to the contents of heavy metals such as mercury, tin, silver and copper. The technique used to quantify arises possible changes in the composition; are able to detect and quantify the most elements of the periodic system, why have a wide field of action; they are having been used from the fields of toxicology, medicine, biochemistry, among others. The atomic absorption technique; consists in measuring the absorption of a given atomic species radiation and fixed for each species. The sample is vaporized and atomized within the apparatus that quantifies the concentration of myself, for this purpose, previously the sample is processed to extract the element in studied of the matrix to be analyzed. The limits of detection and quantification of the techniques, detect concentrations of the elements, metals in our case, although present in very low amounts. This technique are so destructive sample, therefore, should be performed when all other analyzes they are made on the pieces.
