Stress is recognized as a process that results in the confrontation of an individual to the demands of the environment, and the latter exceed the individual's resources, preventing an effective response; causing the body to emit a stress response. This response involves physiological and cognitive activation of the body (central nervous system, endocrine system and immune system) to act more quickly and vigorously to the exigencies of the situation possible way, so has evidence that this response is systemic in nature and brings a number of metabolic consequences such as increased synthesis of steroids and a state of chronic inflammation , which causes psychological stress is considered a risk factor for development of cardiovascular disease, among others. When psychological stress develops in an academic field, discussing academic psychological stress. Therefore, this study aims to determine the prevalence of psychosocial stress in students studying medicine at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali. This descriptive cross-sectional observational study correlating levels of psychological stress with C-reactive protein in a sample of medical students at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali. Stress levels will be measured with the Villalobos (1996) test, and C-reactive protein levels be measured in venous blood samples by specific laboratory tests. Similarly are to take into account the socio- demographic characteristics, time management, academic performance and physical examination elements. Based on a systematic review of the literature, it is expected that the results of this study corroborate the null hypothesis, so it is shown that association between academic stress and levels of C reactive protein in students of medical career Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali. For a university educational institution is essential to identify the levels of psychological stress for students, as it has been associated with mental illnesses such as depression, chronic noncommunicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome, autoimmune diseases , an academic performance poor , and academic failure and dropout.
