Abstract

Alternative views of the city have been very important since social sciences enriched the research and discussion on the urban matter. In present times, and for the last ten years, the complexity sciences and the non subordinate knowledge focusing in everyday practices have emerged to face the failure of the deterministic and linear sciences. In this sense, studies in relation with complexity, non-linearity, time arrow, the un-determined and especially the uncertainty have enriched the theoretical and methodological discussion looking for new horizons for a sustainable world, in which the urban scientific positions merge with the everyday practices of those who live in the cities. By doing so, the social benefit of knowledge can generate changes in human customs and traditions to allow necessary transitions for more feasible future options. In this regard, this paper presents and discusses theories and methodologies of human and social sciences authors: Carlos Maldonado, Murray Gell-Mann and Michel de Certau.
