Abstract
This research aims to compare the order of prioritization of critical points in high accident rate when pedestrian behavior variables are incorporated in road safety auditing processes that include urban area field observations. The methodology is based on the use of the PrioriASV web application to compare critical point prioritization by considering infrastructural variables only (Scenario 1) or by adding pedestrian behavior variables (Scenario 2). The results show that the methodology and procedure proposed here to improve road safety audits processes and the order of prioritization of road safety critical points can be easily replicated in other cities while adapting and adjusting basal variables given the existence of particular circumstances. It is concluded that pedestrian behavior variables directly influence the order of prioritization, and for this reason, it is recommended that they are considered in the methodological processes and analyses of road safety audits.
