Abstract
In recent decades, and in an increasing number of post-conflict scenarios around the world, the participation of the international community has become a critical element which, in spite of the limitations derived from these backdrops’ very complexity, contributes to increase the possibilities of success in the construction of peace. In these cases, the efforts of different international actors can be significant in establishing the necessary guarantees for the implementation of agreements and the development of local capabilities, especially in the short-term. However, they face more substantial challenges for the creation of the necessary conditions to maintain a long-lasting peace. The author deals with the general questions about the participation of the international community in peacebuilding and approaches, at a general level, the effects of external aid in post-conflict scenarios.
