Abstract

Vocations for studying engineering programs within the female population in secondary schools continue to be much lower than the number of male students who opt for these professions. Within the student group of women in engineering, a pilot activity was carried out in a school with ninth, tenth and eleventh grade students within the framework of the generation of a program that allows engineering programs to be brought closer to young women in secondary education. . For this, a panel made up of seven female students from different engineering programs and a teacher was held, whose objective was to share experiences, personal experiences and opinions about what engineering is, problems that are generated by having low vocations of women and low participation in technical and scientific fields, as well as demystifying perceptions and imaginaries about women studying engineering careers. Qualitative results are presented based on a survey carried out on the attendees of the activity. Next, it was contrasted with the perception obtained after the activity and the interest that was created in them to learn more about engineering.
