Abstract
Both illegality and informality have negatively contributed to the proper urban development of cities, triggering complex processes that have tried to solve problems that have been accumulating given the planning lack. In Colombia, cities have undergone profound changes, given the rapid unplanned population growth. Understanding the city as a spatially defined territory, it is possible to contrast physical and sociodemographic aspects, to highlight the scenarios that have punctually described urban development.
