Abstract

This paper focuses on the development of the time control model and its relationship with other agents in the WellProdSim Social Simulator, which assesses the productivity and welfare of peasant families. The simulator adopts an event-driven approach with high concurrency and integrates Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) reasoning for realistic representation of cognitive processes and decision-making among peasant families. Furthermore, it features a heterogeneous time management system, allowing for diverse time scales and dynamics that account for various time-sensitive factors influencing peasant families’ well-being, such as seasonal changes and socio-economic events. Preliminary results demonstrate high-quality simulations, closely resembling real-world scenarios, and provide valuable insights into the lives and challenges faced by peasant families. Additionally, the study identifies areas with potential for improvement, setting the stage for future enhancements and refinements to the simulator. By incorporating event-driven processes, BDI reasoning, and heterogeneous time management, the WellProdSim Social Simulator offers a robust and realistic reading of peasant families’ productivity and well-being, with promising prospects for further advancements to improve its effectiveness.
