SIN PODER CONTENER LAS RIENDAS”: RELACIONES LITERARIAS ENTRE EL AMOR Y LA MUERTE EN EL LIBRO DEL AMOR CORTÉS DE ANDRÉS EL CAPELLÁN (S. XII) Y LA DANÇA GENERAL DE LA MUERTE (S. XV).

Abstract

In this essay I propose to outline certain relationships between two of the most
influential forces amongst literary sensitivity in the High and Late Middle Ages: Love and
Death. Taking into account literary texts such as De Amore (12th Century) and La dança
general de la muerte (15th Century) -although some other literary texts will be included- I will
map out various inevitable associations between the representations of Love and Death and,
therefore, defend that these two forces are two sides of the same coin, to the point where they
become almost identical.
