Abstract

The Faculty of Engineering of the Javeriana University has created a collaborative program with young environmental leaders in Chocó, a region of Colombia with environmental challenges. The goal is to train these young people to develop sustainable and technological solutions that addressenvironmental problems and promote socioeconomic development. They use engineering tools to create carbon footprint reduction and conservation projects, such as water monitoring systems and recycling technologies. In addition, the master's degree in energy and sustainability and the electronics department of the faculty offer a course on climate change and environmental health that includes students from Chocó. The objective is to sensitize and train students on these issues so that they become agents of change in their communities. It seeks an equitable education for the youth of Chocó and knowledge adapted to local needs. The chair covers areas such as adaptation to climate change, waste management, energy efficiency and biodiversity conserva-tion. It also promotes projects and innovations that address the region's environmental challenges. These initiatives foster sustainability, innovation, and environmental leadership in Colombia and beyond.
