Abstract

Based on evidence and from a policy perspective, this article discusses the Democratic Security policy. An informed debate is proposed over the conception that lies underneath the formulation of the policy, as well as the successes and shortcomings of its implementation. The article concludes that this security policy has reached the limit in terms of its positive effects and is showing structural deficiencies. From this conclusion, it follows that a reorientation of the policy is needed.
