Abstract

This article addresses the importance of implementing a food kit during natural disasters and states of emergency in Colombia. The essential components that must be included in the food kits to meet the energy and protein needs of the affected population are discussed, along with the necessary micronutrients to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Government entities and citizens are responsible for preparing and preventing possible natural disasters. This article aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for creating personal preparation kits in emergencies and for government-provided food assistance. Additionally, it seeks to raise awareness about the importance of preparation and prevention to reduce the impact of natural disasters on the population.
