Abstract

This paper presents the simulation of a physical layer network prototype applying radio over fiber technology, whose main purpose is to demonstrate the capacity of this type of network to carry out the transport of data and voice, in the metrology service in Colombia. The simulations were carried out considering the use of single mode fiber optics at the wavelength of 1550nm. The results show that it is possible to implement this type of technology in the physical layer since it enables real-time transmission with high confidentiality for sending data and voice.
