Abstract

This article presents an interpretation of public policies on Education for peace. For this purpose, through an analysis of documentary sources and context, the philosophical foundation that accounts for the human condition as a political being in relationships is initially recalled. Then the theory of public policies in general is introduced and, the vicissitudes of its application to a specific Colombian case in terms of peace Education are described in detail. The text culminates with some reflections on critical points, encounters, and disagreements. In this way, attention is drawn to the fact that, from a democratic republican perspective, the transformations do not depend only on the movements of regular politics, but that peace Education, as a public policy, is an extensive, participatory, social commitment in which everyone comes together for a common purpose.
