Abstract

Tangible User Interfaces is a specialized area of research inside human-computer interaction, that is oriented to the access, representation and manipulation of digital information through everyday physical objects. This paper presents the proposal of a modeling notation to describe tangible interfaces, defined as a UML (Unified Modeling Language) profile, in which we used its extension mechanisms to describe this type of interfaces. The proposal is founded on the conception of tangible interfaces, and from a wider perpective tangible interactions, as a diffuse boundary between material and digital. In this sense, the notation allows the representation of these dimensions in the same diagram, specifically, an extended class diagram.
