Abstract
In the context of the social demonstrations that took place in Colombia from 2019 to 2021, the article investigates whether certain forms of reading the Bible can influence the socio-political commitment of people and, if so, whether the strategies of approach to the biblical text that the communities and collectives of Christian inspiration that took part in this research have had any influence on their choice to participate in the different forms of social protest registered in the country. In order to answer this question, a field research was carried out with a qualitative approach using the focus group technique and the analysis of the information mediated by grounded theory. As findings, it was possible to establish that the option to participate in the protests was not made, in principle, as an expression of previous consensus to analyze reality and to read the Bible communally with a particular approach. However, the collectives recognized that it was their historical trajectory and their community dynamics around contextual and liberationist approaches to biblical texts that stimulated these individual and collective responses.
