Abstract
Obesity and overweight are public health issues that have been increasing in recent years worldwide. In the Latin American context, it has become one of the most prevalent diseases, with growing incidence across various social contexts. There are differentapproaches to address these issues, with physicalactivitybeingoneofthemostimportant.In this document, we present the benefits of physical activity and how transportation infrastructure, through the use of bicycles as a means of transport, the construction of bike lanes, and the implementation of the Ciclovía, can contribute to combating these problems. We base our discussion on the example of Bogotá, while also considering experiences from other contexts such as Monterrey and Lima.
