Abstract

Educational games areinvaluable tool in engineering education, extending beyond their recreational functiontofacilitate students' learning of topics within the academic field. This studypresents findingsfrom across-sectional exploratory analysis involving students from three consecutive cohorts of acivil engineering program. A survey was used to assess students' perceptions of using educational games in learning specific topics within the Engineering Materialsseminar. Evaluating attributes according to significance using a four-point Likert scale, the survey evaluated the perceived utility of games, emotions experienced during their design, and the importance attributed to different aspects of the game in relation to learning. Results indicate that the design of games significantly enhanced learning, communication skills, creativity, and synthesis capability. It is concluded that educational games are effective in enhancing learning outcomes in civil engineeringeducation
