Abstract

Paragangliomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors derived from thesympathetic and parasympathetic portions of the paraganglia, thepresence of metastasis although it is very infrequent, is what determinesthe malignancy. We present the case of a 34-year-old man with a carotidbody paraganglioma with multiple metastatic involvement of bone, nodes,liver, and lung. Given the advanced stage of the disease, he was not acandidate for surgical management, symptomatic management. He died2 weeks after admission due to liver failure secondary to metastaticinvolvement at this level.
