Abstract

The strengthening of universities as health promotion settings goes along with the redirection of health services towards promoting healthy behaviors with bio-psychosocial perspective. The opening of the medical service at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá allowed the implementation of the health maintenance program aimed at the university community. The objective of this work is to share the experience in terms of design, implementation, and evaluation of this program in which activities are conducted in health promotion and disease prevention with risk approach. These actions have contributed to the reorientation of the university medical service, to the articulation of resources, services, and experiences both internally and externally, and to strengthen the university as a health promoting educational institution. The program still faces challenges for the consolidation of current experience.
