Abstract

In this work, Rhamnus purshianagranules were obtained by the wet granulation method applying experimental statis-tical design. For this, the independent variables (amount of sodium starch glycolate, polyvinylpyrrolidone and sodiumstearyl fumarate) and dependent (the compressibility index, disintegration time, particle size and friability of the settledgranules obtained) were established. Following, applying the composite central design of three factors with an αof1,682 efficiently allowed the selection of 15 batches which were prepared in triplicate. The research began with a pre-vious experimental, in which the values of the dependent and independent variables are decoded. Thereafter, theproperties of Rhamnus purshianagranules (dependent variables) were evaluated and then, with the results the bestformulation containing 4% sodium starch glycolate, 4.92% polyvinylpyrrolidone on dry basis and 1.5% of sodiumstearyl fumarate was selected, due to its excellent flow properties, low percentage of friability, disintegration time andsuitable particle size. It was concluded that Rhamnus purshianagranules were obtained applying an experimentalstatistical design, which allowed a reduction of the time and costs in the research and development process of thesedosage forms.
