Abstract
Introduction:Starting university life involves major changes for young people as they enter an unfamiliarenvironment requiring personal, social, and academic adaptations. At Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ), students acquire both technical skills and soft skills. Among these, personal development is key, encompassing self-awareness, resilience, and interpersonal skills. These abilities help students adapt to university life, form healthy relationships, and navigate challenges, complementing their technical education for a well-rounded growth. Objectives:The main objective is to identify and adapt evaluation tools for personal development among students at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ). Methods:A literature review was conducted to compare several evaluation tools, including the Soft Skills Inventory (SSI), Positive Thinking Skills Scale (PTSS), and Grit Scale. These tools were analyzed for their psychometric properties, relevance to personal development, and applicability to the university context. Results:The Soft Skills Inventory (SSI) emerged as the most suitable tool for assessing personal development at PUJ. However, the tool requires translation into Spanish and cultural adaptation to ensure relevance. Conclusions:The SSI is a valuable instrument for evaluating personal development among university students, but future research should focus on its cultural adaptation and validation for the PUJ student population
