Los problemas del desarrollo en las ciencias sociales : la perspectiva procesual de Norbert Elias

In this book, the reference to the work of Norbert Elias is unavoidable: his intellectual production is the axis that connects the chapters. From a processual perspective, the book addresses teacher training institutions in 20th century Colombia, Julio Garavito's position on non-Euclidean geometries and relativity in an Eliasian key, nineteenth-century urbanity manuals, the modernization of the State in Colombia, the assumptions of social studies of the body, the loss of the genetic focus in psychology and the analysis of artistic creation. The chapters stand out for their thematic diversity, but as a whole they have the objective of contributing to the debate on the epistemological bases of the social sciences. Theoretically, this book is a firm commitment to the idea of ​​development - much criticized and sometimes emptied of the meaning given by Norbert Elias - as a basis for understanding the different social figurations and their transformations, their psychogenetic and sociogenetic aspects and the balance between commitment and distancing in the acquisition of knowledge. Ultimately, the aim is to consider the implications of a long-term processual vision that articulates knowledge from various areas, since, ultimately, this perspective considers the historical development of human beings as a species and their different forms of social organization.
