Le stéréotype comme préconstruit : construction discursive de la notion de francophonie chez des enseignants non francophones

Abstract

Research about francophony is still under construction due to different economic, political, social and cultural dynamics that position French as an important language nowadays. This article presents the results of a study about the representations of such notion along with French as a Foreign Language (FFL) didactics and French discourse analysis. The main purpose was to examine how twenty-six Colombian teachers of FLE build and position themselves towards that concept of francophony in a non-French-speaking country. To do so, a questionnaire with semi-open and open questions was administered to the teachers. The results showed that the concept of francophony is still an abstract notion built upon stereotypical and preconstructed forms (préconstruits) present in their discourse. Likewise, these forms reveal an external position from the participants characterized by the repetition and perpetuation of minimal knowledge about this “francophony” reality.
