Abstract
This article explores the epistemological and methodological usefulness of archives and visual documents in social research. It focuses on the analysis of internal colonialism in subjectivities and subalternized bodies and their resignification in the photographs taken by the Capuchin missions in Putumayo, Colombia, between 1900 and 1930. This analysis is also compared with visual and written documents from the contemporary press on African migration in Valencia, Spain.
